Westerwood Global Supports Veterans

Support Veterans

There are more than 18 million veterans living in the U.S. today and countless nonprofit organizations dedicated to honoring and improving their lives. As a very large, diverse population there are a myriad of ways in which we can support these brave men and women for their service. Westerwood Global contributes to a variety of these organizations, and is particularly proud of our ongoing support and relationship with the Malta Veterans Appreciation Program.

The Westerwood Global Malta, NY, office was established in 2014, and has been an avid supporter of the Malta Veterans Appreciation Program for 6 years. Founded in 2016, the Malta Veterans Appreciation Program provides many veterans support programs and acts as a central liaison for Saratoga County veterans to connect with a larger network of sponsors and volunteers in their community. Of the many support services that the Malta Veterans Appreciation Program offers, arguably one of the most impactful initiatives is their work in providing homes for heroes.

The program coordinates a network of volunteers – including members of the local Westerwood team – who bring expert home renovation skills in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, tiling, and more. In addition to providing repair services to veterans with existing homes in need, the program also renovates and donates homes to non-homeowner veterans each year. They are currently working on a 3 Bedroom, 2 Bath home that will be donated in late June to a Veteran family in need.

Being homeless, or being at risk of homelessness, is one of the difficult problems a veteran can face. There are many programs committed to ending homelessness among veterans and reports from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development continue to show downward trends, which is a great sign. But until that number reaches zero, local initiatives such as the Malta Veterans Appreciation Program remain vital to supporting an end to homeless veterans in the Malta, NY, area.

In addition to supporting veterans through our philanthropy, Westerwood Global is also committed to supporting veterans to join our team.

In addition to supporting veterans through our philanthropy, Westerwood Global is also committed to supporting veterans to join our team. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, nearly 200,000 service members transition out of the U.S. Military annually. These service members are highly talented with many valuable skills and experiences that are directly translatable to the work we do in the semiconductor industry. As an organization whose core values place people first, we are proud to offer veterans an inclusive, diverse environment where contributions and work ethic are not only recognized but rewarded.
