This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity with our client, hiring immediately!

Location: Hayward, CA – Prefer Local candidates, however relocation is available.

Schedule: There will be travel required for this position up to around 50%, and a new hire would spend 2-3 weeks in Germany for training, company paid.  Actual travel might be less but you should be available for travel as needed.  All travel expenses are reimbursed including per diems. When not traveling, you will be working from the Elgin, IL location.

Position Summary:
A successful Field Service Engineer will, under limited supervision, drive excellence in customer satisfaction, enjoy troubleshooting and setting up complex systems, and have a passion for learning new technologies. You will commission, troubleshoot, service and perform preventative maintenance on Automated Plasma Treatment work cells within customer facility. Additionally, will be required to repair and/or refurbish systems and sub-systems for other atmospheric and/or vacuum plasma technology systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Frequent travel, primarily within North America (incl. Mexico), Europe (primarily Germany) and Southeast Asia to install, maintain and repair equipment.
  • Quick response to customer requests. emergency services and 24x7 "On Call" support.
  • Scheduling services calls with customers.
  • Equipment on-site commissioning, installation and qualification, testing, maintenance, trouble shooting and calibration services.
  • Work under strict occupational safety and health standards (OSHA, NPFA).
  • Assist maintaining organization of materials, customer spare/repair parts, equipment builds.
  • Identifying tools and resources necessary for completion of tasks.
  • Training customers in the operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Telephone, email and in-person technical support.
  • Create clear, concise, and complete commissioning procedures & troubleshooting documentation.
  • Writing/editing templates, operating procedures and manuals.
  • Coordinate with cross functional work teams such as field applications, support and services, product management, manufacturing and marketing or sales.
This position is a good fit for someone who:
  • Has very strong technical knowledge of electrical circuitry, mechanical and electronics and factory automation industrial tools, machinery or equipment.
  • Has excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Has excellent customer service skills, focus on the customer.
  • Is well organized, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Can work alone and without supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in an electro-mechanical, electrical or electronic discipline or equivalent military training.
  • 5+ years’ experience in field service or similar position.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and assembly drawings.
  • Experience with factory automation, or electronics devices production.
  • Experience in programming PLC’s and HMI’s.
  • Must have a valid passport and driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug test.
  • Must be able to pass customer’s site requirements.
